A fresh crisis has rocked the Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State after stakeholders from Enugu West Senatorial Zone rejected the emergence of Hon. Dennis Amadi as the party’s senatorial candidate and demanded the immediate return of the state chairmanship to the zone.

The resolutions were reached at a stakeholders’ meeting held in 9th Mile, Enugu, where party leaders insisted that, in line with the PDP’s zoning arrangement, the office of the state chairman rightfully belongs to Enugu West Senatorial Zone.

The stakeholders also maintained that no valid PDP senatorial primary election was conducted in the zone, describing the emergence of Hon. Dennis Amadi as unconstitutional and calling on the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to nullify his nomination.

They further condemned the suspension of Nick Ozonsi, alleging that the action was politically motivated and intended to influence the party’s senatorial nomination process.

The stakeholders urged the party’s national leadership to uphold its constitution, zoning principles and internal democracy in the interest of unity and stability ahead of the 2027 general elections.
