There was relief on Friday as the pupils and teachers abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State regained their freedom after days in captivity.

The development was announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post shared on his verified X account.

Confirming the rescue, Onanuga wrote, “Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies.”

The victims were kidnapped in Orire Local Government Area, sparking widespread concern and renewed calls for stronger security measures to protect schools and communities across the country.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to disclose details surrounding the operation, including how the victims regained their freedom, whether any ransom was paid, or the circumstances that led to their release.

Security agencies are expected to provide further details as investigations continue.
