The President-General of the Obosi Development Union (ODU), Barr. Chimezie Obi, has commended Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for rehabilitating and restoring the Obosi Water Scheme, describing the project as a major boost to access to safe and potable water in the community.
Speaking during the official handover of the rehabilitated water scheme to the Obosi community, Barr. Obi expressed appreciation to the state government for reviving the once-abandoned facility, which previously supplied pipe-borne water to residents before becoming non-functional due to technical faults.
He noted that the state government invested significant resources in restoring the water scheme and entrusted its management to the community, expressing confidence that the facility would be properly managed and maintained for the benefit of residents.
According to him, the restoration of the water scheme will improve access to clean drinking water and help reduce the incidence of water-borne diseases such as typhoid and diarrhoea.
Barr. Obi assured the state government that the Obosi community would safeguard the facility and ensure it serves its intended purpose for many years.
He also commended the technical team of Noribest Company for successfully rehabilitating the water scheme and appealed to the firm to provide additional training for local operators to ensure the efficient operation and long-term sustainability of the facility.
The rehabilitation of the Obosi Water Scheme forms part of the Anambra State Government’s efforts to improve access to potable water and strengthen public health across communities in the state.
