Stanbic IBTC Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria through strategic partnerships aimed at creating a more enabling environment for businesses.

The commitment was made during the Nigeria Business Summit Regional Tour held in Aba in collaboration with the Abia State Government, where entrepreneurs participated in business enlightenment sessions, funding masterclasses, enterprise advisory services and capacity-building programmes.

Speaking at the event, the Abia State Commissioner for Industry and SMEs, Mazi Michael Enyinnaya Akpara, said the state government remains committed to building one of Nigeria’s most competitive enterprise ecosystems through strategic reforms and business-friendly policies.

He disclosed that the state is developing a comprehensive MSME Policy to provide a framework for enterprise development, while also establishing a statewide MSME Directory to improve business visibility and attract investment opportunities.

Akpara further announced plans for the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Project, also known as Abia Expo 2026, which is designed to promote locally manufactured products and position Abia as a leading hub for indigenous production.

He stressed that collaboration between government and the private sector remains essential to achieving sustainable enterprise growth across the state.

Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Holdings, Chuma Nwokocha, said businesses require more than funding to succeed, noting that access to finance, business intelligence and market opportunities are critical to long-term growth.

He stated that the bank would continue to support MSMEs through value chain financing, structured lending and advisory services aimed at helping businesses expand and remain competitive.

Also speaking, the Executive Director, Business and Commercial Banking at Stanbic IBTC Bank, Remy Osuagwu, said the institution is adopting a nationwide approach to bringing practical business support and financial solutions closer to entrepreneurs across Nigeria.

The partnership is expected to strengthen the MSME sector in Abia State, promote innovation, create employment opportunities and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
