The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has called on employers of corps members in Anambra State to prioritise their welfare, professional development and mentorship.
Nafiu made the appeal during the 2026 NYSC Corps Employers’ Workshop held in Awka, where he commended employers for their continued support in advancing the objectives of the National Youth Service Corps Scheme.
He described the workshop as an opportunity for stakeholders to review existing partnerships, strengthen collaboration and identify new strategies for improving the welfare and workplace experience of corps members posted to organisations across the state.
The NYSC Director-General noted that employers play a vital role in providing a conducive environment where corps members can acquire practical skills, develop professional competence and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Also speaking at the event, the Anambra State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Patrick-Agha Mba, praised the NYSC leadership for its commitment to youth development and national integration.
He said the scheme has continued to foster unity, cultural integration, leadership development and community service while equipping young graduates with practical workplace experience needed to succeed in the labour market.
Mba further stated that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has continued to position Anambra State as an attractive destination for investment and private sector growth.
The NYSC State Coordinator in Anambra, Pauline Ojisua, emphasised that the welfare and development of corps members require the collective support of employers and other stakeholders.
She commended organisations across the state for providing corps members with opportunities to learn, gain valuable work experience and develop their potential beyond routine official responsibilities.
