The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted a five-member fact-finding and reconciliation committee to resolve the lingering leadership crisis in the party’s Anambra State chapter.
The decision was reached during an NWC meeting and follows a recent court judgment that removed the state’s executive committee, ahead of key political activities in the state.
Addressing journalists, the committee chairman and APC Deputy National Chairman (South-East), Dr. Benjamin Nwoye, said the panel was established to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the crisis and reconcile aggrieved party members.
The committee comprises the Deputy National Chairman (South-East) as Chairman, the National Woman Leader, the National Legal Adviser, the National Vice Chairman (South-East), and the National Secretary, who will serve as Secretary.
Dr. Nwoye said the panel would engage stakeholders across the state and recommend lasting measures to restore unity and strengthen the party.
He noted that the committee’s objective is to ensure internal cohesion and guarantee that candidates who emerged through due process are able to participate in future elections.
The APC chieftain appealed to party members to remain calm, assuring them that the national leadership has taken proactive steps to preserve peace and stability within the party.
He also disclosed that the party’s legal team is already addressing court cases arising from the dispute, while letters would be sent to stakeholders and security agencies to safeguard party offices and maintain law and order.
Dr. Nwoye further reminded members that the APC Constitution requires internal dispute resolution mechanisms to be exhausted before resorting to litigation, warning that violations could attract disciplinary measures.
He expressed confidence that dialogue and mediation would ultimately resolve the crisis and restore unity in the Anambra chapter of the party.
