A brace from Temwa Chawinga and a goal from Tabitha Chawinga handed the Scorchers all three points and a historic victory in what will go down as one of the biggest results in Malawi women’s football history.
Rasheedat Ajibade converted a late penalty, while Uchenna Kanu also found the net late on, but it was not enough to rescue a point as Malawi impressively walked away with all three points after a disciplined and determined display.
It was a very poor and unacceptable performance from the Super Falcons. the 10-time WAFCON champions looked far below their usual standards as a determined Malawi side exploited defensive lapses, poor positioning from the Goalkeeper and costly mistakes to record a famous win.
