1. Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D., is scheduled to deliver the Yoruba Tennis Club Centenary Lecture as part of activities marking the Club’s 100th anniversary.
2. The landmark lecture, themed “Democracy and the Imperative of Good Governance: Renewing Hope in Challenging Times,” will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Greetings Hall, Yoruba Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos, beginning at 11:00 a.m. prompt.

The event is being held under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Patron of Yoruba Tennis Club; His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State and Vice Patron of the Club; and Alhaji Dr. Femi Okunnu, CON, SAN, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Yoruba Tennis Club.
4. As Guest Speaker, Governor Umo Eno is expected to provide thought-provoking insights into the role of democratic leadership and good governance in addressing contemporary challenges. He will also highlight how the ARISE Agenda of the Akwa Ibom State Government is strengthening democratic governance, promoting sustainable development, and delivering meaningful dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
5. The Centenary Lecture is one of the flagship events marking the Club’s 100 years of promoting excellence, tradition, fellowship, leadership, and service to society. It will bring together distinguished personalities from government, business, academia, the diplomatic community, and civil society to reflect on the future of democratic governance and nation-building.
6. The Chairman of the Club and Centenary Planning Committee, Bro. Engr. Olawunmi Gasper, said the choice of Governor Eno as Guest Speaker was informed by his remarkable accomplishments and the administration’s detailed developmental trajectory over the last three years, which he noted deserves to be shared with a wider audience. He described the lecture as a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue on leadership, development, and the future of Nigeria’s democracy while celebrating a century of excellence.
