The Cherubim and Seraphim Movement’s Christ the King Cathedral in Kaduna has recognized Sheikh Ahmad Gumi and Pastor Yohanna Buru as African Peace Icons, celebrating their efforts in fostering harmony and tolerance.
According to Pastor Christopher Solomon of the Church, the selection of Gumi and Buru was a result of their remarkable contributions to humanity and their dedicated efforts towards peace, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
“Their efforts in promoting religious tolerance and fostering better understanding have played a significant role in mitigating religious extremism and attacks among adherents of different faith-based organizations,” Solomon mentioned.
In response, the honorees expressed gratitude for the recognition, urging Muslims and Christians to coexist peacefully. They appealed to governments to address prevailing security challenges while praying for peace and stability.
The duo’s call for unity and peace echoed throughout their acceptance speeches, emphasizing the need for collective efforts towards a peaceful state and nation.
