A newlywed woman, identified as Sarah Nwaorji, has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaorji, to death following a reported domestic dispute in Aba, Abia State.
The incident reportedly occurred around the Seven-Up Company area of Aba North Local Government Area, where the couple resided.
According to residents, the couple, who hailed from Amaise Umuokereke-Ngwa community in Obingwa Local Government Area, had an argument on Friday before the incident occurred on Sunday night.
A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said he was alerted to the incident at about 10 p.m. on Sunday.
The neighbour said, “I was alerted that Sarah had stabbed her husband.”
Sources said the couple got married in December 2025 and had no children at the time of the incident.
Friends and associates of the deceased reportedly described him as an easy-going person, expressing shock over his death and questioning what may have triggered the altercation.
One resident said the couple’s marriage was barely eight months old, adding that the alleged stabbing followed the disagreement between them.
The deceased’s remains have reportedly been deposited at an undisclosed mortuary in Aba, while the suspect is said to be in police custody.
Efforts to obtain the reaction of the Abia State Police Command were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report, with the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, reportedly not responding to calls or a text message.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged killing remain under investigation.
