Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman Ola Olukoyede has said whistleblowers who provide credible information leading to the recovery of stolen Nigerian assets held abroad could receive between 2.5% and 5% of the value recovered.
Olukoyede disclosed the proposed incentive while highlighting efforts to strengthen the recovery of illicitly acquired Nigerian assets located outside the country.
According to the EFCC chairman, individuals who provide useful information that directly contributes to the successful recovery of such assets may be rewarded with a percentage of the recovered value.
The proposed reward, ranging from 2.5% to 5%, is intended to encourage more people with credible information to come forward and assist authorities in tracing and recovering assets allegedly moved overseas.
The development underscores the commission’s broader efforts to intensify the fight against financial crimes and improve the recovery of funds and properties linked to corruption and other illicit activities.
