The search for Nigeria’s next Afrobeats sensation has gained momentum in Enugu, as three contestants earned Golden Mics while several others secured spots in the next stage of the competition.
The two-day auditions, held at the Amadeo Event Center in Enugu, attracted aspiring artistes from the state and other parts of the South-East, all seeking an opportunity to advance in the competition.
The auditions are part of MTN Nigeria’s Next Afrobeats Star initiative, organised in partnership with Ultima Studios and ONErpm, to discover, develop and promote emerging musical talents across the country.
Speaking during the auditions, MTN Nigeria’s General Manager, Regional Operations, Eastern Region, Callima Inino, said the initiative was designed to identify talented young Nigerians with the potential to build successful careers in music.
Inino noted that the Eastern Region is home to several emerging talents whose abilities deserve to be discovered and nurtured.
One of the standout contestants was 18-year-old Adriel Umoh, who became the first contestant at the Enugu auditions to receive a Golden Mic.
Umoh also earned a Golden Mic during the first season of the competition but did not make it to the finals.
Expressing excitement over his latest achievement, Umoh said receiving the Golden Mic was a significant moment for him, adding that his passion for music began at a young age.
The successful contestants will proceed to the next stage of the competition, as the search for the next Afrobeats star continues across Nigeria.
