Former Delta State Governor and 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice-presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, has revealed that he knew ahead of the 2023 presidential election that he and the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would lose.

Okowa made the revelation at a recent event in Delta State, where he spoke about his assessment of the political situation ahead of the election.

According to him, his reading of the political atmosphere was so clear that he had already informed some Christian leaders about the likely outcome before Nigerians went to the polls.

“I knew we would not win the election. And even when I met with the Christian leaders, I told them that APC will win, while PDP will come second and then Labour Party will come third,” he said.

His prediction ultimately reflected the final outcome announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC declared President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the 2023 presidential election, with Atiku finishing second and Peter Obi of the Labour Party coming third.

Okowa’s revelation comes amid renewed political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with discussions over possible opposition alliances and presidential candidates dominating the political space.
