
The forthcoming Niger Delta Economic and Investment summit, has been described as an avenue to showcase investment opportunities in Niger Delta region.
Chairman, Niger Delta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture, NDCCITMA, Idaere Gogo Ogan who made this known in Port Harcourt Rivers State, maintained that all arrangements for a successful Economic summit have been concluded.
“This press briefing aimed to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the successful hosting of the Niger Delta Economic and Investment Summit. scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt from the 15 to 17th September 2026 under the theme “Driving Investment, Innovation and Industrial Growth in the Niger Delta”.
Gogo Ogan explained that the aim of the summit was to bring together, Government at all levels, private sector and development partners to drive economic growth of Niger Delta region.
While saying that NDCCITMA has a plan to make the summit a yearly affair, the Chairman insisted that the summit has the potential to transform the region from resources to production.
According to him, opportunities abound in the blue economy, Agriculture, aviation as well as oil and gas.
“Our vision is to bring together the nine Niger Delta states, the Federal Government, the Niger Delta Development Commission, organised private sector, domestic and international investors, development finance institutions, multilateral organisations, financial institutions, project developers and other strategic partners around a common objective”
He called on investors across the region, nation and the world at large, to leverage on investment opportunities in Niger Delta region.
“From gas and petrochemicals to agriculture and agro-processing; maritime and blue econo manufacturing; aviation and transportation; renewable energy; tourism; digital economy logistics; infrastructure and financial services, the Niger Delta possesses the resources and market opportunities required to become one of Africa’s leading investment destinations”.
The NDCCITMA Chairman named dignitaries expected at the summit to include President Bola Tinubu, Nine Governors of NDDC mandate States, captains of Industries and Investors from different countries.
Gogo Ogan who revealed that about two thousand five hundred participants were expected at the summit, stated that not less than five Embassies would also be attending to explore opportunities prevalent in Niger Delta region.
The Chairman expressed optimism that the summit was not going to be a jamboree.
“The Summit is therefore designed not merely as another conference, but as an investment and transaction platform.”
While responding to a question on the effect of NDCCITMA so far, the chairman expressed joy that over four thousand persons have benefited from the low interest loan given by NDCCITMA to grow businesses in the region.
On her part, Director, Commercial and Industrial Development NDDC, Mrs. Lyna Okara gave assurance that the commission was determined to drive economic growth of the region through the summit.
Mrs. Okara said that NDCCITMA was primarily set up to assist people of the region in business growth and economic development through various strategic programmes.
Giving criteria for participation, Secretary of NDCCITMA board, Dr. Solomon Edebiri explained that all attendees were expected to be duly registered either online or physically at the conference venue from 7 am on Tuesday, 15th September, 2026.
In the meantime, Council to Legal representative of NDCCITMA, Sammie Somiari, debunked insinuations from some quarters about a Court injunction stopping the summit, saying that there is no court order against the summit.
Mr. Samiari enjoined all participants to feel free to attend the summit, assuring that it would be hitch free.
The theme of the summit is ‘Driving Innovation, Investment and Industrial Growth in the Niger Delta’.
