A 19 year old student from Anambra State, Franklin Uyammadu, has emerged winner of the Face of Eastwing Competition organised by the Eastwing Aviation Institute, Enugu.
Uyammadu was declared winner during the grand finale of the competition’s youth foundation programme held on Monday in Enugu.
His victory has earned him a four-month Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) training opportunity with a reputable aviation company.
The teenager had earlier emerged winner of the 2025 edition of the competition after defeating 50 other youths at the inaugural South-East Aviation Summit and Eastwing Youth Competition (SASEYC).
Following his victory, Uyammadu was awarded a full scholarship by the Eastwing Aviation Institute to study Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.
The Executive Director of the Eastwing Youth Foundation and Convener of SASEYC, Christian Agadibe, said Uyammadu’s progress demonstrated the practical impact of the organisation’s youth-focused scholarship programme.
Agadibe explained that the institute had funded Uyammadu’s training through its Aircraft Maintenance Engineering programme, while efforts were ongoing to secure sponsorship opportunities for other finalists.
He said the initiative was designed to expand access to aviation education and training for young people who might otherwise be unable to afford specialised aviation programmes.
According to him, Uyammadu’s progression from the competition to professional aviation training shows that the programme is achieving its objective of identifying, supporting and developing young talents in the aviation sector.
Agadibe added that the ongoing second edition of the competition had produced another group of promising young people who would require support beyond the competition.
He disclosed that the 2026 edition of the South-East Aviation Summit and Eastwing Youth Competition was progressing, with the current top 10 finalists undergoing further training ahead of the summit scheduled for October 3 in Enugu.
He expressed confidence that another deserving winner would emerge at the upcoming summit, adding that the initiative would continue to provide young people in the South-East with opportunities to pursue careers in the aviation industry.
