The Abia State Government has announced two major trade and investment events scheduled to hold in the state between November and December 2026, as part of efforts to attract investors and expand markets for local businesses.
The events are the AFRICANDO 2026, U.S.-Africa Trade and Investment Conference/Expo, scheduled for November 17 to 19 in Umuahia, and the Aba Trade and Exhibitions Fair, scheduled for December 2026.
The Chief of Staff to the Abia State Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, disclosed this in a statement issued in Umuahia and addressed to the Muslim community in Aba.
Ajagba said the events would provide platforms for investors, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, traders, professionals and business leaders to explore opportunities in the state, while allowing Abia based businesses to showcase their products, services and innovations to wider markets.
He said the objective was to “bring the world to Abia” by showcasing the entrepreneurial and productive capacity of the state to international audiences.
According to Ajagba, more than 500 international participants, investors and business leaders from the United States, Europe, the Caribbean, Asia and other African countries have registered to attend the events.
He added that the anticipated participation had contributed to increased demand for accommodation in major hotels in Umuahia and Aba during the period.
The Chief of Staff also called for the participation of the Muslim community, highlighting its contributions to commerce, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing and the distribution of goods and services.
He urged Imams, Islamic scholars, leaders of Muslim organisations, entrepreneurs, professionals and other community leaders to publicise the events and encourage participation.
Ajagba particularly encouraged Muslim entrepreneurs, traders, manufacturers, farmers, transporters, artisans, women and young people in business to take advantage of business to business meetings and networking opportunities.
He said participants would have opportunities to engage visiting investors, entrepreneurs and international business organisations, establish business relationships, exchange ideas and explore potential partnerships.
The Chief of Staff stressed that the opportunities were open to all segments of society, irrespective of faith, ethnicity or background, urging residents and businesses to participate in the events.
The Abia State Government said the initiatives are expected to provide additional platforms for local enterprises to connect with regional and international markets while promoting the state as a destination for trade and investment.
