The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) has called for stronger collaboration with the state government to improve forest surveillance, prevent criminal activities and protect lives and property across the state.
The call was made during a familiarisation visit by the NFSS delegation, led by its State Commander, Mazi Destiny E. Jonas, to the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Hon. Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka, Esq., at his office.
During the visit, Jonas appealed for the ministry’s support and cooperation in advancing the service’s security objectives. He also outlined initiatives aimed at strengthening forest surveillance, preventing criminal activities in forest areas and ensuring safer communities across Anambra State.
Responding, the commissioner welcomed the delegation and assured the service of his commitment to supporting initiatives that would improve security throughout the state.
He stated that his ministry was prepared to facilitate the effective operations of the NFSS across Anambra’s 21 local government areas while encouraging cooperation among security agencies and other relevant stakeholders.
Ezeaka further emphasised the importance of establishing a strong working relationship between the NFSS, other security operatives and traditional rulers in various communities.
According to him, effective communication, grassroots participation and collective responsibility are essential to addressing security challenges and sustaining peace across the state.
The visit is expected to strengthen engagement between the NFSS and the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, with a focus on improving forest security and enhancing cooperation at the community level.
