Margaret College of Nursing Sciences, Amichi, in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has held its maiden matriculation and capping ceremony, with a call on governments to improve the working conditions of nurses to address the increasing migration of healthcare professionals abroad.

The institution made the call during the ceremony, which marked an important milestone in its academic journey and the formal induction of its pioneer students into the nursing profession.

The college stressed the need for improved welfare packages, better remuneration and conducive working environments for nurses, noting that inadequate working conditions have contributed to the growing exodus of Nigerian healthcare professionals to foreign countries.

It urged governments at all levels to prioritise the welfare of nurses and strengthen the healthcare system by creating an environment that encourages trained professionals to remain and practise in Nigeria.

The institution also emphasised the importance of quality nursing education in producing competent healthcare professionals capable of contributing to improved healthcare delivery across the country.
