The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr Nonye Soludo, has denied claims that her son, Ozonna Soludo, was responsible for a viral video showing him dancing to a campaign song associated with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The First Lady described the video as falsely attributed to her son, warning individuals circulating it to stop immediately or face possible legal consequences.
The warning was conveyed in a statement issued by her Media Assistant, Dan Ezeigwe, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
According to the statement, the video did not originate from Ozonna, and attempts to associate him with the footage were described as false, malicious and unacceptable.
The statement also mentioned an individual identified as Kelechi Simon, reportedly a medical radiographer residing in Delta State, who was alleged to have been linked to the origin and circulation of the video. However, the allegation has not been independently established.
Nonye Soludo warned that laws addressing misinformation and libel remain in force, stressing that the internet does not provide protection for individuals who deliberately circulate defamatory or misleading information.
She further acknowledged the right of Nigerians to support their preferred political candidates, express opinions and participate in political discussions, but cautioned against using such freedoms to spread fabricated stories or malicious propaganda.
The First Lady urged members of the public to verify information before publishing or sharing it, warning that those who deliberately spread falsehoods could face legal consequences.
She concluded the statement with the words: “A word is enough for the wise.”
The development comes amid growing political conversations and online campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
