The Akinjagunla area of Ondo town was plunged into confusion on Sunday as a middle-aged man reportedly slumped and died during a sexual encounter with his concubine, a married woman, in a well-known hotel in the community.
The deceased, identified as a civil servant, breathed his last in one of the hotel rooms he had visited with his female partner.
While the woman’s identity remains unknown at this time, sources suggest she is the wife of a prominent landlord in the area.
According to a reliable source, the man succumbed in the hotel room after engaging in passionate activity with his female companion, suspected to involve the local phenomenon known as “Magun” or thunderbolt.
“The woman raised the alarm after realizing that the man collapsed. Then, the hotel manager and some residents rushed to the scene, making frantic efforts to rescue the man, but to no avail.
“The hotel management reported the matter to the Yaba Division Police Station in the community, who later stormed the hotel and took the man to the Trauma Centre for treatment. Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead by the on-duty doctors.
“The lifeless body of the victim was deposited at the State Specialist Hospital in Ondo town.
When our correspondent visited the area, residents of the street were seen in groups discussing the incident.
Contacted, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Yaba Division, Mr. Moses Adeduro, was not available.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer in the station, who does not want his name in print, confirmed the incident.
He said the woman, along with the hotel manager, had been invited for interrogations.
The police source disclosed that a full investigation on the matter had commenced to unravel the circumstances leading to the man’s death.
He also confirmed that the woman had been arrested by the police.
“Yes, we can confirm the death of the man in one of the hotels in Ondo town. His corpse has been evacuated and deposited at the morgue.
“Let me quickly tell you that the woman in question is with us already as we have commenced investigations to unravel the cause of the man’s death,” he said.
