Senator Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker and social critic, stated on Monday that Nigerians should now be concerned about the rising food inflation and cost of living that are wreaking havoc on the country.
The declaration came after the Ivorian national team defeated the Nigerian Super Eagles in Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations championship final.
Sani wrote on his X handle, “AFCON Cup gone, we can now face Cup of Garri.”
According to warnings from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Nigeria’s economic crisis is getting worse.
This was mentioned in a report that the IMF Executive Board released recently under the title “Review of Nigeria’s Post Financing Assessment.”
IMF expressed concern that the stagnant per-capita growth, widespread poverty, and severe food insecurity have further intensified the persistent cost-of-living crisis in Nigeria.
