Amidst mourning, Isiokpo community in Rivers State has pledged to employ traditional methods to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic demise of Herbert Wigwe, their beloved son, in a helicopter crash.
Wigwe, the Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, tragically lost his life alongside his wife and son in a crash while traveling from California to Nevada.
In response to this devastating loss, the traditional leadership of Isiokpo initiated an eight-day mourning period in Wigwe’s honour.
As reported by The Punch, during a solemn procession, held to commemorate his memory, the community’s leaders expressed their determination to employ ancient traditions in unraveling the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.
Led by traditional ruler Blessing Wagor, Isiokpo’s leadership underscored their commitment to employing ancestral practices to discern the true cause of Wigwe’s untimely passing.
“We must get to the root of the whole thing. Isiokpo is an ancient city. We must go back to our traditional way and find out what really killed Herbert Wigwe,” the traditional ruler of Isiokpo, Blessing Wagor said.
While markets shuttered and residents donned black attire in mourning, tributes pour in for the philanthropic and visionary leader, celebrated for uplifting countless lives in his hometown and beyond.
Despite the profound grief, the community echoed a resolute call for justice and closure, demanding thorough investigations by national authorities to ascertain the events leading to Wigwe’s tragic fate.
As Isiokpo mourns their loss, they stand united in honouring Wigwe’s legacy and preserving his vision for a brighter future, determined to uphold his dreams and aspirations for generations to come.
