Ondo State governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in a bold declaration, has asserted his readiness to vie for the governorship position in the upcoming November 16 election, dismissing notions of a short-lived tenure.
Aiyedatiwa, who assumed office following the demise of his predecessor, emphasized his commitment to fulfilling the constitutional mandate and seeks the opportunity to extend his tenure beyond the remaining term.
“Definitely, I will be running because I am already a sitting governor… Nobody wants to be governor for one year. Common! Give me what the Constitution allows me to do. At least, let me have the chance of also running for one more time,” he declared during a TVC News interview.
Having stepped into office on December 27 last year after Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s passing, Aiyedatiwa aims to secure his position through democratic processes, citing constitutional legitimacy as his driving force.
Addressing speculations of discord with his late predecessor, Aiyedatiwa refutes any notion of strife, attributing such rumors to political ambition and misinformation.
