The disappointing 1-1 draw against the Warriors of Zimbabwe left Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro pointing towards the lengthy travel duration as a significant factor affecting the team’s performance.
In Butare, goals by Walter Musona and Kelechi Iheanacho resulted in a stalemate between Zimbabwe and Nigeria at the Huye Stadium in Rwanda.
This came after the Super Eagles previously drew 1-1 against Lesotho in Uyo, putting their chances of topping the group in a precarious position.
Addressing the press post-match, Peseiro attributed his team’s performance dip to the demanding travel schedule, stating, “It was a tough, difficult trip from Nigeria in the flight, many hours, the players didn’t rest enough for quick play at the same level.”
He further commented, “First half, very bad, second half, much better.”
