Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, aka K1 De Ultimate, has implored President Bola Tinubu to tackle the economic hardships faced by Nigerians, expressing the public’s anger towards the current state of the economy.
This comes after K1’s daughter, Dami Ayinde, highlighted the unfulfilled promises of the All Progressives Congress on Instagram, emphasizing the people’s suffering amid unmet expectations, as reported by The Punch.
Despite being a steadfast supporter of President Tinubu, K1 delivered his message in Yoruba, urging the President to find swift solutions to the numerous challenges plaguing the masses.
“I plead with you to find a solution to the plight of the masses. The citizens are crying and wailing. We’re suffering amid a lack of adequate power supply. How did things get to this point? I implore you to fix these problems,” K1 sang in the video.
“Listen to the complaints of the masses and treat such complaints with all seriousness.
“We know you to be a philanthropist, but we Nigerians are angry. The people of Nigeria are angry.
“The traders in this country are not happy. Look at what the dollar has become (a reference to the exchange rate),” K1 added.
The economic downturn, exacerbated since the departure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, saw Tinubu’s decision to end fuel subsidies, causing the price of Premium Motor Spirit to skyrocket from N185 to over N600.
Also, the government’s financial reforms led to the free fall of the naira against the dollar, further destabilizing the economy and pushing more Nigerians below the poverty line.
K1, speaking truth to power, pleaded with the President to address the citizens’ grievances promptly, expressing concerns about the rising incidents of kidnapping and the plummeting value of the naira.
Despite acknowledging Tinubu’s philanthropy, K1 emphasizes the widespread discontent among Nigerians and urges the President to listen to the people’s complaints seriously.
While assuring Nigerians that the government will resolve challenges, K1 calls on those profiting from the suffering of the masses to feel a sense of shame.
This plea comes from an artist who has previously praised the President in his records and actively campaigned for him during the 2023 presidential election.
