Students of Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture took to the streets on Tuesday, vehemently opposing the proposed hike in tuition fees by the school’s management.

In a disturbing turn of events, the university barred students who had not paid their tuition from sitting their exams, sparking further outrage among the student body.

Videos circulating on social media  captured chaotic scenes as students fled exam halls, expressing frustration at being forcibly removed.

In a dramatic twist, protesters were seen chasing after the university’s vice-chancellor, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, in a bid to confront the administration directly.

Responding to the escalating tension, the university announced its closure indefinitely through a circular signed by the vice-chancellor.

The directive instructed all students to vacate the premises immediately, citing concerns for safety and property.

Explaining the decision, Prof. Iwe stated, “Miscreants took over the University, chasing and pursuing the Vice-Chancellor, damaging his official vehicle and those of his officials claiming that they were not allowed to take their 1st Semester examination owing to their failure to pay their charges.”

With the campus now empty and tensions high, the university remains closed until further notice, leaving the fate of the ongoing protests uncertain.
