Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has revealed that he may cast his vote for Omoyele Sowore in the 2027 presidential election, declaring that he has ruled out supporting both the APC and ADC.

Lawal made the disclosure during an interview on TVC shortly after announcing his resignation from the African Democratic Congress. He attributed his exit from the party to alleged irregularities surrounding its presidential primary that produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its candidate.

Explaining his position, the former SGF said his stance should not be interpreted as support for any major political contender but rather as a reflection of his disappointment with the current political choices available to Nigerians.

Lawal expressed strong reservations about both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Atiku, insisting that neither represents a desirable leadership option.

“I found myself between the devil and the devil… meaning that as bad as Bola Tinubu is now, Atiku will be a worse president,” he said.

Despite his criticisms of the leading political figures, Lawal maintained that he is no longer actively involved in partisan politics and is not campaigning for any candidate.

“It doesn’t mean I have to support anybody. I have retired from politics; I am not canvassing for anybody,” he said.

However, he confirmed that he intends to participate in the 2027 election and is considering Sowore among the options available to him.

“I might even vote for Sowore; there are other guys coming up who I believe would handle Nigeria better,” he said.

Lawal further disclosed that he has already crossed out several political parties from consideration ahead of the polls.

“I’ve eliminated APC, now I have eliminated ADC and I can tell you categorically that I have eliminated NDC,” he added.
