Seven students of the Ebonyi State College of Health Science and Technology, Ngbo, in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Sustained injuries following an attack by suspected armed robbers at the student hostel.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when the assailants stormed the hostel and dispossessed students of their valuables.
Sources disclosed that the hostel lacks adequate security infrastructure, including perimeter fencing and security posts, making it vulnerable to criminal attacks.
Confirming the incident, the Ebonyi State Police Command said operatives were immediately deployed to the area after receiving a distress report. Police spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, assured that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
The incident has raised concerns over the security of students and the need for improved safety measures in tertiary institutions across the state.
