Troops of Operation UDO KA have uncovered a suspected safe house linked to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Enugu State.

According to an operational report released on Thursday, the operation was carried out by troops of the 82 Division Garrison and Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The report stated that the raid followed actionable intelligence obtained from suspects arrested during previous operations aimed at dismantling the operational network of IPOB/ESN in the South-East.

Acting on the intelligence, security operatives traced the suspected hideout to Agbani in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

A search of the premises reportedly led to the recovery of eight AK-47 rifles, 12 AK-47 magazines, 323 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one tear gas gun and two tear gas cartridges.

Security personnel also recovered 10 sets of uniforms allegedly linked to members of the outlawed group.

The military said all recovered items have been handed over to the Department of State Services for further investigation and necessary action as efforts continue to curb insecurity in the region.
