A fresh controversy has erupted within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) following the rejection of the Anambra South Senatorial primary election results by aspirant.
Nsofor described the results circulating on social media as unauthorized and misleading, insisting that only the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has the authority to announce official primary election outcomes.
The former aide to late Ohanaeze President-General alleged that the exercise was marred by accreditation failures, the participation of non-members, and disruptions in several local government areas.
According to him, voting was not successfully conducted in four of the seven local government areas in Anambra South, making any declaration of a winner premature and contrary to democratic principles.
Nsofor further questioned the credibility of the purported results, noting that the scores of all participating aspirants were not disclosed. He called on the party leadership to investigate the irregularities and urged party members and the public to disregard any unofficial results.
He maintained that no aspirant should parade himself as the party’s candidate until the NDC officially concludes its processes and submits a candidate’s name to INEC.
