The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded a series of major arrests across the country, including the apprehension of two persons living with disabilities (PWDs) and the interception of a liquid cocaine shipment allegedly smuggled into Nigeria from Brazil.

In Abia State, a 60-year-old woman, Chidimma Sunday, was arrested after being found in possession of 1.8 kilograms of skunk. She was reportedly apprehended by local vigilantes and subsequently handed over to NDLEA operatives.

Similarly, in Rivers State, NDLEA officers arrested a 28-year-old man, Abubakar Usman, during a raid in Port Harcourt. Various quantities of suspected illicit substances, including skunk, methamphetamine, tramadol, swinol, and diazepam, were allegedly recovered from him.

In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, arrested a businessman arriving from Brazil with shirts and towels allegedly soaked in liquid cocaine. Authorities said laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of approximately 6.1 kilograms of the illicit substance concealed in the clothing materials.

The anti-drug agency also recorded additional successes in Delta and Gombe states. In Delta, operatives intercepted cannabis concealed inside gas cylinders, while two suspected drug dealers were arrested in Gombe with quantities of skunk.

The arrests form part of NDLEA’s ongoing nationwide efforts to combat drug trafficking, dismantle criminal networks, and curb the circulation of illicit substances across the country.

The agency has reiterated its commitment to intensifying enforcement operations and bringing drug traffickers to justice, regardless of status, location, or method of concealment.
