The Association of Ebonyi Indigenes Socio-Cultural in the Diaspora has urged political actors in the state to focus on issues, leadership capacity, and development plans ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the group’s President, Paschal Oluchukwu, said recent political activities in Ebonyi signal growing interest in the next election and should encourage constructive discussions on the state’s future.
The association stressed that the 2027 governorship race should be driven by competence, vision, and policies capable of advancing development and improving the welfare of the people.
The group also encouraged voters to critically assess candidates and their programmes before making electoral decisions, while calling on all stakeholders to remain actively involved in the democratic process.
It further advocated peaceful political engagement, urging politicians, political parties, and supporters to avoid divisive rhetoric and embrace campaigns centered on ideas and practical solutions to the state’s challenges.
According to the association, issue-based campaigns will strengthen democracy and contribute to the continued growth and development of Ebonyi State.
