The Anambra State Government has called on residents to provide credible information on individuals posing as pastors or religious leaders while allegedly engaging in criminal activities.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Dr. Law Mefor, the government said the initiative is an extension of its ongoing crackdown on fake native doctors and other individuals accused of using religion and traditional practices as cover for criminal acts.

According to the government, the move is aimed at sanitizing religious and traditional institutions, strengthening public safety, and restoring law and order across the state.

The government urged residents to report any pastor, church, or self-acclaimed religious leader allegedly involved in fraud, extortion, deception, or activities capable of threatening public peace and security.

Mefor assured that all information provided would be treated with strict confidentiality and maintained that the exercise is intended to protect genuine religious practitioners while eliminating criminal elements hiding under the guise of faith and tradition.

The state government called on citizens to support the effort by providing useful information through designated reporting channels.
