The Labour Party (LP) in Abia State has announced the defection of Nduka Anyanwu, a former National Executive Committee (NEC) member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to its ranks.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Emenike Iroegbu, the Labour Party disclosed that members of its State Working Committee visited Anyanwu following his decision to join the party.
Anyanwu, a former Chairman of the Governing Board of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) and a founding member of the APC in both Abia State and Nigeria, said his decision was motivated by what he described as the visible developmental strides of Governor Alex Otti’s administration.
According to him, the ongoing improvements in infrastructure and public services across the state influenced his decision to leave the APC and align with the Labour Party.
The former APC chieftain praised Governor Otti’s performance, stating that development projects are evident across Abia and have positively changed public perception of the state.
He further disclosed that he is joining the Labour Party alongside more than 700 members of his political structure and supporters, expressing his commitment to contributing to the party’s growth and the continued development of Abia State.
Anyanwu maintained that his move was not driven by personal gain but by his belief in the governor’s leadership and vision for the state.
