The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a landlord, Ogochukwu Ugoeze, in connection with the suspected murder of Miss Chiamaka Vivian Chilaka, a 23-year-old final-year nursing student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor.
Chilaka, described as a multi-award-winning student, was found dead at her residence in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area, on June 14, 2026. Police investigators reportedly discovered signs of violence at the scene, including injuries on the victim’s body, bloodstains, and evidence suggesting a possible struggle before her death.
The Commissioner of Police, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a comprehensive investigation.
The suspect, who is the deceased’s landlord, is currently in police custody and undergoing interrogation. The victim’s body has been deposited in a mortuary for autopsy, while investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspect linked to the alleged abduction of three children in Yola North Local Government Area.
According to police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, the children’s father reported that the victims were abducted on June 12 and that the kidnappers later contacted the family to demand ransom.
Following the report, Commissioner of Police, ordered a full-scale investigation, leading to the arrest of a suspect who is currently assisting authorities with information aimed at apprehending other members of the alleged kidnapping syndicate.
Police authorities in both states have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring justice and bringing all those involved in the crimes to book.
