A commercial tricycle operator identified as Abdul Odolu has been killed in Nsukka, Enugu State, in a violent incident reportedly linked to cattle ownership and alleged theft activities.
According to preliminary reports, the deceased was allegedly lured to a bush area around Ibagwa-Agu, near the boundary with Kogi State, by an unidentified cattle owner under the pretext of assisting in the recovery of a cow said to be trapped in the area.
It was gathered that upon arrival at the location, the tricycle operator was attacked and killed.
Some accounts further allege that the deceased had been previously suspected of cattle rustling in parts of the area, where he was said to have been involved in transporting and selling stolen cows. However, these claims remain unverified by authorities.
The incident reportedly occurred several days ago, with no official confirmation of arrests or a formal statement from the police at the time of filing this report.
Security agencies are yet to issue an official briefing, while residents of the area have expressed concern over rising insecurity and called for urgent investigation into the killing.
Authorities are expected to provide clarity as investigations continue.
