The National President of the Hope Rising for Imolites Foundation, Barrister Success Akagburuonye, has launched a large-scale skills acquisition and empowerment programme aimed at promoting economic independence and reducing poverty across Imo State.

The initiative, which targets over 200 participants drawn from the 27 local government areas of the state, was flagged off at the Assemblies of God Church Auditorium in Ogbor Uvuru, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event, Akagburuonye said the programme is designed to equip beneficiaries with practical and income-generating skills in areas such as paints production, makeup artistry, catering, event decoration, detergent production and entrepreneurship development.

He noted that the two-week intensive training programme, funded with several millions of naira, is part of efforts to cushion the effects of current economic challenges by empowering residents to become self-reliant and financially independent.

According to him, sustainable empowerment through skills development and entrepreneurship remains one of the most effective ways to tackle unemployment and improve livelihoods.

Akagburuonye also reiterated his commitment to attracting development opportunities to Mbaise, Imo State and Nigeria, while encouraging participants to embrace hard work, self-confidence and integrity.

Facilitators of the programme, including representatives of Pato-Binto Entrepreneurial and Skills Acquisition, Abuja, said participants would receive training in six major areas, combining vocational skills with entrepreneurship education to promote business growth and long-term economic sustainability.

The empowerment initiative is expected to create opportunities for wealth creation, job generation and community development across the state.
