The African Action Congress (AAC) candidate for the Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chioma Ifemeludike, has withdrawn from the 2027 senatorial race, citing personal convictions and recent developments in the political landscape.
Ifemeludike, who also serves as the AAC Deputy National Chairperson (South-East), announced her decision in a letter addressed to the party’s Acting National Chairperson, requesting that her name be removed from all records and processes relating to the party’s senatorial candidature.
She said her decision followed careful reflection and was influenced by her commitment to justice, accountability, and the protection of vulnerable members of society.
The former candidate also expressed concerns over the handling of the case involving Baby Testimony and the child’s physically challenged mother, stating that the incident reinforced her decision to step away from the race and focus on advocacy for justice and accountability.
Despite withdrawing from the contest, Ifemeludike reaffirmed her loyalty to the African Action Congress, pledging to continue working for the growth of the party and the promotion of its ideals.
