A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, Chief Bona Nlemadim, has resigned from the party and joined the Action Peoples Party (APP), citing the alleged political marginalisation of Ngor Okpala Local Government Area.

In an open letter dated June 25, 2026, Nlemadim said his decision was driven by what he described as years of injustice against his people, particularly the denial of key elective positions despite their loyalty to the APC.

He expressed disappointment over the outcome of the party’s senatorial primaries, alleging that Ngor Okpala was denied the opportunity to produce the APC candidate for Owerri Zone, contrary to the state’s Charter of Equity.

Despite leaving the APC, Nlemadim reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu, pledging to vote for and mobilise support for the President in the next general election.

The former APC stalwart also declared his intention to support any qualified son or daughter of Ngor Okpala seeking elective office, regardless of political party, saying the development of his community now takes precedence over party loyalty.
