The Ezza Ezekuna Development Association (EEDA) has declared that the governorship position in Ebonyi State should remain in the Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone until 2031, in line with the state’s zoning arrangement.

Addressing journalists in Abakaliki, leaders of the association said the position is rooted in the principles of justice, fairness, equity, and political stability, insisting that Ebonyi North should complete its two-term turn in office, just as the other senatorial zones have done.

The group also dismissed a recent communiqué issued by the self-styled Umuekumenyi Leaders’ Council, which reportedly endorsed the governorship ambition of PDP chieftain Ifeanyichukwu Odii from Ebonyi South.

According to EEDA, the council lacks legal recognition, is not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and has no constitutional backing or mandate to speak on behalf of the people of Umuekumenyi.

The association urged the public to disregard the group’s position, maintaining that respecting the existing zoning arrangement remains the best path to preserving peace, unity, and political stability in Ebonyi State.
