First Bank has partnered with the Imo State Government to support the One Kindred, One Business (ÓKÓBÌ) initiative, a community-based entrepreneurship programme aimed at promoting business ownership, financial inclusion, and job creation across the state.

The initiative, introduced by Governor Hope Uzodimma in 2023, encourages groups of individuals to jointly establish and manage registered businesses. So far, it has registered over 600 businesses with more than 20,000 members and targets the creation or support of 100,000 jobs within three years.

FirstBank Group CEO, Olusegun Alebiosu, said the bank’s support reflects its commitment to empowering communities through inclusive financing, adding that the initiative leverages peer accountability to drive sustainable business growth.

Chief Economic Adviser to the Imo State Government, Kenneth Amaeshi, described ÓKÓBÌ as an effective model for tackling unemployment and expanding business opportunities. He called on more corporate organisations to support the programme to accelerate economic growth nationwide.

The Federal Government has recognised ÓKÓBÌ as one of eight National Human Capital Development Accelerator Projects, with growing interest from development partners and private investors.
