Nollywood actor Williams Uchemba has donated ₦300,000 to Somto Okafor, the son of late comic actor Mr. Ibu, to enable him clear his outstanding school fees and collect his original WAEC certificate.
The gesture followed an emotional video shared by Somto on social media, in which he appealed for help and made several allegations regarding the handling of his late father’s properties and funds after his death.
According to Somto, his stepmother sold some of Mr. Ibu’s properties and he received little financial support. He also alleged that funds donated by Nigerians during the late actor’s medical treatment had been exhausted. These claims have not been independently verified.
Moved by the video, Williams Uchemba contacted Somto, provided the financial assistance, and reportedly assured him of further support.
The actor’s intervention has attracted widespread praise on social media, with many Nigerians commending his generosity and describing it as a timely gesture that has rekindled hope for the late actor’s son.
