Three exceptional Nigerian students are proudly representing the country at the 2026 International STEM Olympiad in Rome, Italy, where they are competing against some of the world’s brightest young minds from 154 countries in Mathematics and Science.

The young scholars Chimdiebube Onwubiko, Don Anele Munachimso Marvelous, and Egejurum Onyedikachi Ethan have already distinguished themselves through remarkable academic achievements, earning their place on the global stage.

Chimdiebube Onwubiko, a student of Evergreen Schools, Enugu, is widely regarded as Nigeria’s best junior secondary school mathematician. His exceptional talent is reflected in his mastery of advanced university-level mathematics, having completed K.A. Stroud’s Engineering Mathematics textbook multiple times.

Don Anele Munachimso Marvelous of Diamond Special College, Owerri, is one of Nigeria’s most decorated young scholars. He emerged as the country’s best Chemistry student in the IGCSE examinations, won the ₦5 million grand prize as the overall champion of the 2026 South East Maths Olympiad, secured first place at the National Mathematics Competition in Abuja, and recently earned a $100,000 scholarship to study in Canada.

Completing the team is Egejurum Onyedikachi Ethan, a Primary Six pupil who currently holds the title of Nigeria’s best primary school mathematician after emerging winner of the primary category at the 2026 South East Maths Olympiad.

The three students arrived in Rome on Thursday, July 2, accompanied by their teachers, Chisom Unachukwu and Anthony Iwegbu. Their participation was fully sponsored by Alex Onyia, CEO of Educare, whose commitment to promoting quality education continues to create opportunities for outstanding Nigerian students.

According to Onyia, students trained by Chisom Unachukwu dominated the 2026 South East Maths Olympiad, sweeping the first, second, and third positions. He noted that the educator’s students consistently rank among the top performers in mathematics competitions across Nigeria.

The Nigerian team has completed the competition examinations, with winners expected to be announced during the award ceremony on Tuesday, July 7.

Expressing confidence in the students, Onyia reaffirmed his commitment to supporting gifted young Nigerians.

“I will continue to push our bright minds to global stages. In 10 years, I pray you will be alive to see the outcome of our investments in our children today,” he said.

As the nation awaits the official results, the remarkable accomplishments of these young scholars have already reinforced Nigeria’s growing reputation for producing world-class talents in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
