Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has described the establishment of the Nigerian Army Depot in Amasiri-Edda as a major boost to national security, regional stability and economic development in the South-East.
The governor made the remarks while receiving the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, who visited the state to witness the maiden passing-out parade of recruits at the new depot, the first Nigerian Army training facility of its kind in the South-East.
Lieutenant General Shaibu said the depot was established in line with the directive of President Bola Tinubu to strengthen military capacity, improve operational readiness and promote national integration through the equitable distribution of military infrastructure.
Governor Nwifuru commended the Nigerian Army for its role in maintaining peace and security in Ebonyi State and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the military to enhance security, support development and promote national unity.
