The Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has called on Nigerians to embrace healthy eating by consuming more natural and locally sourced foods to prevent lifestyle-related diseases and improve overall well-being.

In a health advocacy message, Dr. Soludo encouraged families to prioritise fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, roots and tubers, describing them as nutrient-rich foods essential for healthy living and longevity.

She noted that many indigenous Nigerian foods provide the body with vital nutrients needed to maintain good health and serve as healthier alternatives to highly processed foods, which have been linked to the rising incidence of non-communicable diseases.

According to the First Lady, adopting healthier dietary habits can significantly reduce the risk of conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity and heart-related diseases, while strengthening the immune system, improving digestion and promoting healthy body weight.

Dr. Soludo stressed that healthy eating should not be seen as an expensive lifestyle but as a simple daily commitment that everyone can adopt regardless of their financial status.

She urged Nigerians to make conscious food choices by embracing wholesome meals, noting that every healthy meal is an investment in a longer, stronger and healthier life.

The First Lady reaffirmed the importance of preventive healthcare through proper nutrition as part of ongoing efforts to promote healthier lifestyles and reduce the burden of lifestyle-related diseases across the country.
