Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially declared his support for the Rainbow Coalition, a political movement comprising members of different political parties in Rivers State and led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Fubara made the declaration on Tuesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility, a public-private partnership pharmaceutical factory in the state.
The governor also endorsed President Bola Tinubu as his preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 election and threw his weight behind Kingsley China as his preferred governorship candidate, urging his supporters to vote for all candidates on the Rainbow Coalition’s platform.
Speaking at the event, Fubara said the era of political conflict in Rivers State had ended, stressing that peace and unity were now the state’s top priorities.
“I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our President, and he is the one we are supporting. The governorship candidate is the candidate I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition,” the governor declared.
He dismissed calls by some political actors to delay joining the coalition, insisting that he had already made up his mind.
“I am already in the family. I have returned to our family. Give your total support to the coalition. The time of war is over; it is now time for peace, and that peace will take us to another level,” he said.
Fubara also warned against any actions capable of causing division in Rivers State, saying he would not associate himself with any agenda that could undermine the prevailing peace.
“I am not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state. We have done what we need to do, and now we are moving forward,” he added.
On the investment project, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the successful completion of the medical consumables factory, noting that he approved government support only after receiving assurances on the project’s viability and delivery timeline.
According to him, the first phase of the project is expected to be completed within three months and will boost industrialisation, create jobs, attract investment, and position Rivers State as a major production hub for medical consumables.
Fubara also pledged the state’s full support for the investors and urged the host community to cooperate to ensure the project’s success.
He further disclosed that the Rivers State Government is currently involved in litigation with several companies involving claims exceeding ₦200 billion, stressing that his administration is determined to avoid contractual disputes that could discourage investors.
The governor expressed optimism that the first phase of the project would be completed and commissioned within the next three months.
