Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, committed no wrongdoing after reconciling with his political camp, declaring that “there is no sin in politics.”
Wike said Fubara’s decision to return to the political family that produced him was the right step and would strengthen efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The minister spoke on Tuesday while addressing journalists after inspecting ongoing road projects across the Federal Capital Territory.
His remarks came days after Fubara publicly declared support for Wike’s Rainbow Coalition, endorsed President Tinubu for a second term and urged his supporters to align with the coalition.
Responding to suggestions that Fubara had been forgiven after their prolonged political feud, Wike dismissed the notion.
“I don’t know what you mean by sin. In politics, there is no sin. If someone realises they made a mistake and decides to correct it, there is nothing wrong with that. Politics is not a sin. What matters is recognising that you were on the wrong path and making the right decision,” he said.
Wike recalled that he had predicted Fubara’s return during his last media chat, saying the governor had no alternative but to return to his political roots.
