The Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment through technical and vocational education, following a visit to beneficiaries of the council’s skills acquisition programme at the Innoson Kiara Academy in Nnewi.
The beneficiaries, who have spent the past three months undergoing intensive training in automobile mechanics, vehicle electrical and electronic systems, and vehicle body building, are being fully sponsored by the Aguata Local Government. The sponsorship covers tuition, accommodation, feeding support, training manuals, personal protective equipment, and identification materials.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ofobuike commended the trainees for their dedication and resilience, noting that the programme is designed to equip young people with practical skills that will enhance their employability and promote self-reliance.
He also disclosed that plans are underway to support the beneficiaries beyond the training programme as they prepare to complete their studies at the academy.
The mayor reiterated that investing in youth development remains a priority of his administration, expressing confidence that the beneficiaries would contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic growth of Aguata and beyond.
The beneficiaries include Tochukwu Onyejeakor, Emmanuel Umealachedo, Sopuruchukwu Ogbuagu, Kosarachi Ibeagwa, Nnaemeka Ikediobi, Abuchi Ezeoma, Somtochukwu Emenike, Paschal Umeweraku, Victor Emenike, Osita Okoli, Chimaroke Uchegwanam, Evaristus Ibekwe, Prince Akunne, Ifechukwu Nwankwo, and Augustine Agodi.
