Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has approved the recruitment of more than 6,500 qualified personnel into academic, technical and administrative positions in public primary and secondary schools across the state.

The recruitment exercise is aimed at providing the manpower required for the effective implementation of the state’s Smart Green Schools initiative, particularly across the 267 Smart Green Schools established by the administration.

In a statement, the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof. Hyginus Okibe Banko, said applicants for teaching positions must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant field with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), or a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in the relevant subject areas.

He added that registration or evidence of ongoing registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is mandatory, while applicants for Degree and HND positions must also present a valid National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge or exemption certificate and demonstrate proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The board further disclosed that vacancies are also available for candidates with Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and SSCE/WASSCE qualifications in relevant positions.

Interested applicants are required to submit a formal application letter, detailed curriculum vitae, copies of academic and professional certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, and valid contact details.

Applications can be submitted in hard copy to the Office of the Executive Chairman of ENSUBEB in Enugu or electronically by sending all required documents in a single PDF file to the board’s official email address.

The recruitment exercise is open to qualified Nigerians, including eligible non-indigenes, while the deadline for submission of applications is August 14, 2026.
