The youth wing of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Enugu State has unanimously endorsed Chinyeaka Ohaa as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced during the maiden executive meeting of the NDC Youth Wing held in Enugu.
Speaking at the meeting, the State Youth Coordinator, Jideofor Ude, described Ohaa as an experienced public servant who has served in several strategic positions, including Accountant General of Enugu State, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, and Pro-Chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology.
Ude urged party members to remain united and support all candidates presented by the party, with particular emphasis on Ohaa’s governorship ambition.
He also reaffirmed the youth wing’s commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and mobilising young people ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the youth wing will begin implementing its programmes in line with the timetable to be released by the Independent National Electoral Commission and called on party candidates to work closely with the youth leadership to boost grassroots participation.
The meeting, attended by the NDC State Chairman, Ibuchukwu Obetta, and the 17 local government youth coordinators, also featured the presentation of appointment letters to the local government executives.
In his remarks, Obetta commended the youth wing for its dedication to the party’s growth and pledged continued support for its activities.
He also addressed the ongoing leadership dispute within the state chapter, maintaining that he remains the duly recognised state chairman by the party’s national leadership and urged members to remain focused as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
